NHK WORLD-JAPAN Features Hiroshima-Iran Peace and Cultural Exchange
広島とイランをつなぐ平和・文化交流の取り組みが、NHK WORLD-JAPANの国際ニュース番組「NHK NEWSLINE」で紹介されました。
今回の放送は、2026年夏にNHK広島放送局が取材した、イランから広島を訪れた人々と、広島で続いてきた平和交流の取り組みをもとに制作されたものです。
日本国内での放送にとどまらず、NHK WORLD-JAPANを通じて、広島から世界へ届けられる機会となりました。
広島とイランをつないできた交流
一般社団法人オミードでは、長年にわたり、医療支援や平和・文化交流を通じてイランとの関係を築いてきました。
その背景には、被爆直後の広島で救護活動にあたったスイス人医師マルセル・ジュノーの精神があります。
国や文化が違っても、遠くにいる誰かの命や暮らしを想い、行動すること。
その想いを受け継ぎながら、広島とイランの人々をつなぐ交流を続けています。2026年夏にはイランから来日した人々が広島を訪れ、平和について考え、広島の人々との交流を行いました。
広島から、日本を越えて世界へ
NHK WORLD-JAPANは、日本やアジアのニュース、文化、社会を海外に向けて発信するNHKの国際サービスです。
今回の放送を通じて、広島とイランの間で続いてきた交流や、戦争を経験した人々の声が、日本国内だけでなく海外の視聴者にも届けられました。
これまで続けてきた人と人との交流が、世界の皆さまに届く機会となったことを、大変うれしく思います。
映画を通じても、イランを身近に
こうした平和・文化交流から生まれた取り組みのひとつが、イラン映画を中心に紹介するオンラインシアター「Shireen Box」です。
Shireen Boxでは、日本では出会う機会の少ないイラン映画を、オリジナル日本語字幕付きで配信しています。
作品で描かれるのは、戦争や社会問題だけではありません。
家族の日常、女性の生き方、子どもたちの視点、医療、地域文化、ユーモア、そして希望。
ニュースだけでは見えにくい人々の暮らしや感情に、映画を通じて触れていただくことを大切にしています。
直接会い、対話すること。
そして、映画や文化を通じて互いを知ること。
Shireen Boxはこれからも、広島からイランをはじめ世界の人々を身近に感じられる機会を届けていきます。

NHK WORLD-JAPAN Features Hiroshima-Iran Peace and Cultural Exchange
Peace and cultural exchange activities connecting Hiroshima and Iran were recently featured on NHK WORLD-JAPAN’s international news program, “NHK NEWSLINE.”
The report was based on coverage by NHK Hiroshima during the summer of 2026, when visitors from Iran came to Hiroshima and took part in peace-related activities and exchanges with local people.
What began as a local story in Hiroshima was shared with audiences around the world through NHK WORLD-JAPAN.
Connecting Hiroshima and Iran
For many years, Omid has built relationships with Iran through medical support, peace activities, and cultural exchange.
At the heart of this work is the spirit of Dr. Marcel Junod, the Swiss doctor who provided medical relief in Hiroshima after the atomic bombing.
His legacy reminds us of the importance of caring about the lives of people far away, even across national and cultural differences.
Inspired by that spirit, Omid has continued to create opportunities for people in Hiroshima and Iran to meet, communicate, and learn from one another.
In the summer of 2026, visitors from Iran came to Hiroshima, reflected on peace, and took part in exchanges with local communities.
From Hiroshima to the World
NHK WORLD-JAPAN is NHK’s international service, sharing news, culture, and stories from Japan and Asia with audiences around the world.
Through this broadcast, the long-standing connections between Hiroshima and Iran, as well as the voices of people affected by war, reached viewers outside Japan.
We are deeply grateful that these efforts could be shared with a global audience.
Bringing Iran Closer Through Film
One of the initiatives born from these years of peace and cultural exchange is Shireen Box, an online cinema introducing Iranian films to audiences in Japan.
Shireen Box offers films that are rarely seen in Japan, with original Japanese subtitles.
These films portray not only war and social issues, but also family life, women’s experiences, children’s perspectives, medical care, local culture, humor, and hope.
Through cinema, Shireen Box hopes to help audiences encounter the everyday lives and emotions of people that are often difficult to see through news alone.
Meeting in person.
Talking with one another.
Learning about each other through film and culture.
Shireen Box will continue to create opportunities to bring the people of Iran and other parts of the world closer to audiences in Japan, from Hiroshima.
