舞台は、イラン・イラク戦争下の1987年6月28日。
人口12,000人の国境近くの小さな町〈サルダシュト〉に、突如マスタードガス爆弾が投下されました。
クルミの木の下で、いつものように家族団らんの時間を過ごしていた人々。
その日常は、一瞬にして奪われます。
本作は、世界でもあまり知られていないサルダシュトでの化学兵器被害の実態を描きながら、戦争が市民の暮らしに何をもたらすのかを静かに問いかけます。
化学兵器の恐ろしさ、そして平和の尊さをあらためて考えさせられる一本です。
サルダシュトには、被爆地・広島との交流から生まれた「HIROSHIMA通り」も存在します。
