なぜ、広島からイラン映画を届けるのか

Shireen Boxは、日本では出会う機会の少ないイラン映画を、オリジナル日本語字幕付きで届けるオンラインシアターです。

イラン映画には、戦争や社会の問題だけでなく、家族を想う気持ち、日々の暮らし、子どもたちの視点、女性の生き方、祈りや希望が丁寧に描かれています。

ニュースで見る国や地域にも、そこに生きる人々の暮らしがあります。
笑い、悩み、家族を想い、誰かのために行動する人々がいます。

Shireen Boxが届けたいのは、そうした人々の表情や感情に、映画を通じて出会う時間です。

メディアが関心を寄せた背景

今回、多くのメディアに関心を寄せていただいた背景には、広島という土地と、イランとの継続的な交流があります。

Shireen Boxは、長年にわたり医療支援や平和・文化交流に携わってきた一般社団法人オミードと、イランとの交流のなかから生まれました。

その原点には、被爆直後の広島で救護にあたった医師マルセル・ジュノーの精神があります。
遠くの誰かのために行動すること。
国や文化が違っても、人の命や暮らしを想像すること。

その想いは、広島という土地に受け継がれ、イランとの交流へと広がってきました。

映画は、世界を知る入口になる

Shireen Boxでは、平和、家族、女性、子ども、医療、地域文化、ユーモアなど、さまざまなテーマを持つ作品を公開しています。

化学兵器被害を題材にした作品、被爆直後の広島で救護にあたった医師を描く作品、家族の日常を描く作品、女性の再生を描く作品、イランの暮らしや笑いに触れられる作品。

一つひとつの映画は、遠い国の出来事を「自分とは関係のない話」にしないための入口でもあります。

映画を観ることで、知らなかった国のことを少し知る。
誰かの暮らしを想像する。
世界の見え方が、ほんの少し変わる。

Why We Share Iranian Films from Hiroshima

Shireen Box is a Hiroshima-based online cinema that introduces Iranian films to audiences in Japan.

The platform offers films with original Japanese subtitles, creating opportunities for viewers to encounter stories that are not often introduced in Japan.

Iranian cinema portrays not only war and social issues, but also family love, everyday life, children’s perspectives, women’s experiences, prayer, humor, and hope.

Behind every country or region we see in the news, there are people living ordinary lives.
There are families, children, memories, struggles, kindness, and small moments of joy.

Through cinema, Shireen Box hopes to create time for audiences to meet those people and their emotions.

Why the Media Has Shown Interest

One of the reasons many media outlets have shown interest in Shireen Box is the connection between Hiroshima, Iran, and long-standing peace and cultural exchange.

Shireen Box was born from years of medical support, peace activities, and cultural exchange carried out by Omid, together with its continuing relationship with Iran.

At the heart of this work is the spirit of Dr. Marcel Junod, the Swiss doctor who provided medical relief in Hiroshima after the atomic bombing.

His spirit reminds us of the importance of taking action for someone far away, and of imagining the lives of people beyond national borders and cultural differences.

That spirit has been carried forward in Hiroshima and has gradually expanded into connections with Iran.

Cinema Can Be an Entrance to the World

Shireen Box offers films that explore a wide range of themes, including peace, family, women, children, medical care, local culture, and humor.

Some films portray the impact of chemical weapons.
Some tell stories connected to Hiroshima and humanitarian aid.
Others depict family life, women rebuilding their lives, or the humor and everyday culture of Iran.

Each film offers a way to encounter a world that may feel far away.

By watching a film, we may learn something about a country we did not know before.
We may imagine someone else’s life.
We may begin to see the world a little differently.
