主人公のレザは、コソ泥としての腕（壁をスルスルと登る技術）から「トカゲ（マルムラック）」の異名を持つ男。あるとき武装強盗の罪で終身刑を言い渡され、厳格な刑務所に収監されてしまいます。絶望したレザは脱走を企て、偶然刑務所の病院で隣り合わせになった「ムッラー（イスラム教の聖職者）」の服を盗んで変装し、見事に脱獄に成功します。偽の聖職者として国境近くの小さな町へ逃げ延びたレザ。すぐに私服に着替えて高飛びするはずが、町の住民たちから「本物の高徳な聖職者がやってきた！」と大勘違いされ、歓迎されてしまいます。断りきれず、泥棒の知識と経験を交えながら偽の説教を始めるレザですが、なぜかその言葉が「型破りで素晴らしい教えだ」と人々の心を動かしていくことになります。 The protagonist, Reza, is a petty thief nicknamed "The Lizard" (Marmoulak) for his uncanny ability to effortlessly scale walls. After being sentenced to life imprisonment for armed robbery, he finds himself locked away in a maximum-security prison. Driven to despair, Reza plots his escape. By a stroke of luck at the prison hospital, he manages to steal the robes of a "mullah" (an Islamic cleric), disguise himself, and pull off a brilliant escape. Fleeing to a small town near the border as a fake cleric, Reza intends to quickly change into civilian clothes and flee the country. Instead, the townspeople mistake him for a deeply pious and revered mullah, giving him a warm, grand welcome. Trapped in his own lie, he has no choice but to start delivering sermons, blending his thief’s street smarts with his newfound role. Incredibly, his unorthodox yet heartfelt words begin to touch the hearts of the locals, sparking an unexpected transformation.

上映禁止になった伝説のコメディ」って聞いて観てみたんですが、ただ面白いだけじゃなく、今の私にすごく響く大傑作でした！泥棒が聖職者に化けちゃう設定のドタバタ感に笑いつつも、主人公のレザが言う「神への道は、人間の数だけある」っていう言葉がすごく素敵なんです。これって、仕事や人生の生き方にも同じことが言えるなぁって。「こうしなきゃ」って頭が固くなりがちな世代だからこそ、彼の型破りで人間味のある言葉に、なんだか心がふっと軽くなりました。ハラハラして笑ったあとに、最後はジーンと温かい気持ちになれる。仕事帰りのリフレッシュにもおすすめしたい、大人のための名作です！

I watched The Lizard after hearing it was a “legendary banned comedy,” and wow—it wasn’t just hilarious, it really hit home for me!

I loved the chaos of a thief accidentally becoming a revered cleric, but what truly beautiful was his line: “There are as many ways to reach God as there are people.” It made me realize that the same goes for our own lives and careers. In our 40s, it’s so easy to get stuck in our ways and think we “have” to do things a certain way, so his unorthodox yet deeply human words felt like a breath of fresh air.

After all the laughs and suspense, it leaves you with such a warm, uplifting feeling. It’s the perfect movie to unwind with after a busy workweek!
