  • 小さな家族の大きな愛にあふれた物語。軽度の知的障がいをかかえる両親マリヤムとレザと大切に育てられたソヘイル。裕福ではないけれど笑顔の絶えない温かな家庭で幸せな毎日を送っていた。しかし…。 Maryam and Reza live with mild intellectual disabilities. Together, they have raised their son Soheil with great love. Their life is modest, and they face many difficulties. Yet their home is filled with warmth, laughter, and affection. As Soheil grows older, however, the family begins to face changes. The parents want to protect their son. The child begins to look toward the world outside the home. And society begins to look at this family in ways that are not always kind. Through the everyday life of this small family, The Painting Pool portrays the beauty and pain of family love.

The film was screened at the Focus on Asia Fukuoka International Film Festival in 2014 and was appreciated for its simple, heartfelt story. Shahab Hosseini, who plays the father, is also known internationally. He later starred in Asghar Farhadi’s The Salesman and won the Best Actor Award at the 69th Cannes Film Festival.
